Ven. Harispaththuwe Ariyawansalankara Thero passes away

Revered Buddhist monk - Ven.Dr. Harispaththuwe Ariyawansalankara Thero (74) of the Vipassana Meditation Centre, Colombo passed away this morning (March 22) at a private hospital after a prolonged illness.

The Thero was also the President of the Amadyapa Movement.

The Thero's remains will be kept at the Vipassana Meditation Centre from today noon until tomorrow noon.

The remains will be handed over to the Wickramarachchi Ayurveda Institute in Yakkala after the Panshukula rites.

The Thero's final wishes had stated that all unnecessary funeral expenses should be avoided with all that funds going to build a house for a poor family.
